The Nook Craftshop

The Craftshop is where the machinery of the craft goes onto the workbench.

This is the home of the Nook’s deep-dive Craft Labs: focused examinations of difficult problems in storytelling, writing, and games. Here, ideas are reduced to their working parts, frameworks are stress-tested, failure points are examined, and the connections between different forms of craft are brought into view.

Rather than collecting more rules or techniques, the Craftshop is concerned with understanding why something works—and what happens when it doesn’t. Each Lab takes one problem far enough apart to leave something practical behind: a sharper way to diagnose, build, revise, or experiment with the work on your own bench.
